Toilet Repairs
A Range of Issues
The problems affecting a toilet system, otherwise known as a water closet, can be wide-ranging. Your toilet could be clogged, it could refuse to flush, it could be running, wobbling, leaking, making strange noises, or emitting unpleasant odors. Modern toilets consist of a seat attached to a water tank. Most problems affecting toilets are due to an issue within the water tank. Unfortunately, the water tank can seem a confusing mess of pipes and wires to those unfamiliar with how toilets function. Because toilets consume, on average, more than 40% of a common home’s total water usage, toilet problems can quickly add up to wasted water and a hefty bill. If you are having any toilet issues, contact Emergency Plumbers for a diagnosis today. True to our name, we can have a plumber over to your office or residence in no time. Clogged Toilet? Read This
One of the most common problems affecting toilets is clogging. Clogged toilets can occur from too much toilet paper, flushing indissoluble things down the toilet, and excessive waste. If your toilet is clogged, you can try unclogging it yourself. Buy a plunger and an unclogging liquid product such as Drano or Chlorox. Follow the directions on the back of the package for amounts you should use.
Tips for Extended Toilet Life
The best way to fix a toilet issue is to avoid having one in the first place. Here are some tips:
- Use less toilet paper. Excessive toilet paper can cause a clog.
- Avoid flushing harmful items. Your toilet was not made to flush products other than waste and toilet paper. Other cotton items, such as paper towels, tampons, sanitary napkins cannot properly dissolve in the toilet paper and are better disposed off into a waste bin.
- Don’t accumulate waste. You may think that occasionally flushing small items such as a bit of paper towel, a q-tip or a cotton ball is no big deal, but over time, they will build up and chase your toilet to clog.
